Our Story
Mavis Technologies was established in August 2023, following the completion of our CEO's master's degree at the University of Northampton. Motivated by personal experience as a visually impaired individual, our CEO, who has high myopia with -12 in each eye, spent significant time in ophthalmology queues and recognized the challenges faced by those with visual impairments. He realized that many visually impaired and blind people rely heavily on others for support, which led him to focus on empowering individuals to become more independent.
From a young age, it was his goal to invest in solutions that could enhance the lives of those with visual impairments. During his time at university, he worked on a thesis titled "Smart Glasses Prosthesis for Blind People", which inspired the creation of Mavis Technologies. The company's mission is to develop assistive gadgets and smart glasses for the visually impaired and blind community, with the belief that independence and empowerment are key to improving quality of life. The name Mavis was derived from the concepts of Magic and Vision, symbolizing our commitment to creating solutions that enable people with low or no vision to lead independent lives.
